Chicago Nasal & Sinus Center is at forefront of treating the full range of nasal and sinus disease.

Bridging the gap between standard medical therapy with pills and nasal sprays and conventional surgical procedures performed in an operating room setting, Chicago Nasal & Sinus Center is able to offer a range of office-based treatments designed to address common nasal and sinus complaints.

VivAer® Nasal Procedure

What is nasal obstruction?
Many people with nasal obstruction experience difficulty breathing through their nose, habitual snoring, interrupted sleep and fatigue.

Nasal obstruction is often caused by anatomical blockage in the nose, hindering airflow. As a result, you may feel congested or “stuffy”. Home remedies and medications may offer temporary relief. It’s only when your nasal airway is opened that you can expect to find real, lasting relief.

Common symptoms of nasal obstruction:

  • Trouble breathing through your nose
  • Nasal congestion
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Difficulty breathing during physical exertion

Lasting relief is possible without surgery.

If you regularly experience difficulty breathing through your nose and nothing seems to help, you may have nasal obstruction. Until now, finding a long-term solution often meant surgery. Now, your physician may be able to offer you lasting relief without surgery by performing the VivAer® procedure to open your nasal airway.

Lasting Relief: 97% of patients experienced significant improvement in nasal breathing.1
Non-invasive solution: Minimal discomfort, no incisions, and can be performed in our office.
Live better: Clinically shown to significantly improve quality of life and provide long-lasting relief.1

Breathe better. Live better.
The VivAer® procedure is clinically proven to provide high satisfaction and lasting relief.1 Patients typically return to normal daily activity the same day.

  • 97% of patients experienced significant improvement in nasal breathing1
  • 94% of patients improved their ability to get enough air through their nose during exercise or exertion1
  • 89% of patients reported getting a better night’s sleep1

Turbinate Reduction
Turbinate reduction is intended to improve nasal breathing, decrease nasal stuffiness, decrease the impact of allergies on nasal breathing, and reduce snoring. The turbinates may be surgically reduced, cauterized, or frozen to make them smaller and less prone to swelling and obstruction. Similar to liposuction on the belly, submucosal reduction decreases the size of the turbinates while preserving the warming and humidification function of these structures, thus improving airflow with minimal disruption of normal function. Chicago Nasal and Sinus Center offers in-office turbinate reduction under local anesthesia with minimal discomfort and rapid recovery.

Balloon Sinuplasty
Patients with recurrent acute sinus infections, sinus pressure and/or weather-related sinus headaches due to small sinus openings often benefit from enlargement of these openings. Balloon Sinuplasty technology utilizes a soft flexible illuminated wire guide to navigate the nasal and sinus passages. A small balloon catheter is passed over the wire and used to dilate blocked sinus openings without tissue or bone removal. Chicago Nasal and Sinus Center has been at the forefront of this technology since its introduction in 2006.

Chicago Nasal & Sinus Center is pleased to be able to offer in-office balloon catheter dilation (Sinuplasty) of the sinuses under local anesthesia. For properly selected patients with chronic sinus pain, weather-related sinus pressure and recurring sinus infections, this in-office procedure has the potential to provide dramatic improvement with minimal risk, minimal discomfort and rapid recovery.

Topical Sinus Therapy
Topical sinus therapy involves the use of compounded medicated nasals sprays and irrigations and affords us the ability to treat a wide variety of conditions that are not resolved through surgery alone, delivering medications directly to the sinus cavities. These sprays and irrigations are well-tolerated, effective, and can be customized for the individual patient and condition.

In-office Nasal Polypectomy
Nasal polyps are benign growths that form within the nose and sinuses. They can block the nasal passages, preventing normal airflow and sinus drainage, leading to difficulties breathing, smelling, and sleeping. Up to 12 million people in the United States suffer from nasal polyps. Their exact cause is unknown, but they result from inflammation and are often associated with infection, asthma, allergies, aspirin sensitivity, or a hyperactive immune system.

While surgery is not a cure for polyps, and further medical therapy is routine, surgery is often necessary to remove the bulk of polyps within the nose and sinuses. There are some patients whose polyps are limited to the nasal passages or whose polyps are small and can be removed in the office setting under local anesthesia. The procedure is relatively pain-free, causes minimal bleeding and usually takes less than 45 minutes. Patients are generally able to breathe freely after this procedure and there is little or no delay in returning to normal activities.
